Katie Brown, Clarinetist

Bio

Katie Brown completed her Master of Music at the University of Georgia (2008) where she was the Graduate Teaching Assistant in Clarinet under Dr. D. Ray McClellan. Prior to her master’s work at UGA, Ms. Brown began her graduate studies with Scott Andrews (current Principal, Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra) at the Boston Conservatory as a scholarship recipient (2004-2005).  She received her Bachelor of Music in Clarinet Performance from East Carolina University (2003) where she was the A.J. Fletcher Scholarship recipient and winner of the ECU Concerto Competition (2002). While at ECU, Ms. Brown studied with Christopher Grymes and Dr. Nathan Williams.  She has performed with the North Carolina Symphony, the Charleston Symphony, the South Carolina Philharmonic, the Athena Grand Opera, the Metrowest Symphony Orchestra, the Eastern Carolina Symphony Orchestra, as well as with the top concert bands at the University of Georgia, the Boston Conservatory, and East Carolina University.  Katie Brown has more than ten years private teaching experience in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia, and recently completed her second summer teaching technique classes to middle school students at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, Michigan.  Ms. Brown is currently a doctoral student and the Graduate Teaching Assistant in Clarinet under Joseph Eller at the University of South Carolina.  She enjoys working with students of all ages and levels of experience.
